Drama - BALLAD OF A BANDIT - Branar theatre show
A cleaner entered our classroom to empty the bin. He was distracted by something he saw and there ensued a rollicking story of a highway man, a Robin Hood-like character and master of disguise, Captain McNamara.
The legendary historical figure Capt. George McNamara of Cong sided with poor tenants in Penal Law times. He stole from the rich landlords and gave money to the poor people.
Piet Mondrian was a modern artist from the Netherlands. He was born in 1872. He is famous for his unusual artwork and inventing a new style of painting.
Did you know that birds lead very busy lives and they need lots of energy. They need to eat food to give them energy. They spend most of their day looking for food for themselves and their little nestlings.

Our prize was an opportunity to work with a local artist Lara Lucardi. She is an expert on Cyanotype and conducted a workshop with some of our pupils. This workshop was filmed by RTE and will be aired on the programme ‘This is Art’ in spring. Our pupils worked with her on material and their work will be displayed as a large wall hanging in our school.

Our Trip to the Theatre
We explored dance, music and engaged in lots of lovely sensory activities when the ‘Making Waves’ team from Baboro came in to do a workshop with us. Some of our class went to O’Donoghues Theatre in Galway University and performed in the show. There were lots of props, music and soft lighting to create a realistic atmosphere. It was great fun!
Woodwork
We have been using lots of different tools and learning how to use them effectively and safely. This half term we are making bird houses.

Cookery - Baked Beans on Toast
To start off our school year cookery lessons we decided to make beans on toast. They are so easy to prepare and they taste delicious too!
First we opened the can of baked beans and we put them
