SENIOR 1

Welcome to Senior 1! In our class we have 8 boys; Khachatur, Dougie, Sean, Mati, Leo, Luke, Dara and Filip. Our teacher is Annette and the SNA's are Orla, Kayleigh and Kerri. We are going to have lots of fun this year. Lets go!

Cookery

As part of healthy eating we are learning about the different food groups and healthy foods like fruits and vegetables.  We made delicious tomato soup that was packed with vegetables, yummy fruit and yoghurt pots and healthy scrambled eggs on toast.

We made spooky skeletons, scary monsters and creepy pumpkins in art for Halloween! In cookery baked delicious chocolate chip muffins with skeleton heads on top and spicy ginger cookies, it was lots of fun. On our bus outing we visited homestore and more to look at all of the spooky decorations.

Literacy and writing

We enjoy creating our own stories, typing them on the laptop. When they are printed we display them on our creative writing board.

Drama

The ‘Wonder Project team’ came to the school to work with us. We explored dance, music and
engaged in lots of lovely sensory activities. It was very calming and also lot of fun.
We performed for other pupils and then they all joined in with us.

We also went to see the show ‘A Grand Soft Day’ as part of the Baboro Festival.

Math

We have been doing work on money and time and use the interactive whiteboard as a fun way to
show what we have learned.

Art

We looked at the painting "A Starry Night" by Vincent Van Gogh and the ‘cool’ colours he used. Then
we looked at the painting "Thumble of Sunflowers" by Erin Hanson to learn about ‘warm’ colours. We produced half and half pictures to show the contrast.
Picture
We looked at different types of leaves as part of our Autumn theme. We did leaf rubbings and made
bird feeders. We hung them on the branches so the birds can have a feast!
We looked at the colours of the leaves and using tinfoil and paint created beautiful autumn trees.

We used different sponges and chose cool colours to print our ‘Umbrella’s In The Rain’ pictures.
