​Welcome to the Senior 5 web page. This year the class teacher is Annette. The SNA's are Ann and Clodagh, who are joined by Marzena in the afternoon.

Mini -Enterprise Project
Handmade Christmas Cards

 We designed and created many beautiful cards.

cutting 
paper.

and card
together.

​We created samples of each of the cards which we designed. Then we asked the staff of St. Josephs Special School to place orders. Our classroom turned into a workshop, just like Santas' workshop in the North Pole.

​We made extra cards and
sold them at a
​Christmas Fair in our school hall.

We counted up all the money we earned from selling the Christmas cards.
Then we had to deduct our expenses from that amount. Our expenses included coloured card, coloured paper, patterned paper, glue sticks etc.

It's hard work being an entrepreneur!

We collected some snow from the school yard and we examined it closely.

Babaro Childrens Arts Festival Comes To Our School

 A senior 5 pupil worked as a Babaro volunteer during a number of the performances of ANTARCTICA in the St. Josephs school hall.

AUTUMN

It's the season of Autumn. During the season of Autumn the leaves fall from the trees, the evenings become darker and the days and nights gradually get colder. 

Halloween Art

The festival of Halloween arrives at the end of Autumn on October 31st. It is a time when children and adults dress up in fancy costumes. Some people carve faces onto hollowed out pumpkins, play games and go trick or treating.  This pagan festival began hundreds of years ago.

From orchard to table - apple cake.

​​In our school orchard the apples also begin to ripen during the season of Autumn. So we decided to use the apples to make a cake. Follow us on the apples journey from the apple tree to our table.

Horticulture 
Planting Flower Seeds and Bulbs in Autumn

Autumn is the perfect time of the year to plant Daffodil ( Narcissus ) bulbs. 

First, we
cleared the
weeds from the
flower bed.

Then we picked out stones from the flower bed.

​​We dug holes in the soil and placed the daffodil bulbs into them.

Now it's time to scatter some flower seeds.

Hopefully during the season of Spring we will
see lots of flowers in our flower bed.
