Busy Bees in Senior 3
Senior 3 have been busy exercising, playing music and cooking this week. All our pupils seem to be happy to be back in school!

Bus Outing- Blackberry Picking

Senior 3 enjoyed making a delicious crumble with blackberries they collected on their bus outing.

Birthday Preparations
Senior 3 enjoyed making rice krispie buns for a certain pupils September birthday. 

Birthday Party

Exploring Shape
Senior 3 enjoyed exporing 2D and 3D shapes. They particularly liked using magnatiles to make 3D shapes and buildings.

Wonder Workshop 
Created by artist Phillida Eves in collaboration with composer/musician Michael Chang and choreographer/dancer Monica Muñoz, the Wonder Project had a week long residency in our school where the children are co-creators of the experience.
The Wonder Project is an interactive, sensory experience for the children. Live music, movement and a feast of sensory engagement lead the children to discover and explore their own stories, dance, and creativity.

Senior 3 pupils and staff enjoyed the above sensory workshop during October. Our pupils really enjoyed having the freedom to express themselves through this project.

Spooky Treats
Senior 3 treat enjoyed transforming chocolate mini rolls into spooky Frankenstein treats. They were excellent at following the instructions carefully!

Heritage in Schools
We had a visit from Aine from heritage in schools who taught the pupils all about native trees and set up a lovely craft activity for pupils as well. See if you can guess what they made???

November Activities

Bus Outings
Senior 3 enjoyed several bus outings this month. We went shopping, went to look at all the beautiful Christmas decorations and got hot chocolates at the Galway Christmas Markets. The pupils learned to pay for goods, look at receipts, recognise and identify Christmas decorations. 

Fruit and Vegetables
We explored food in November through art, pair work and several food themed stories. The pupils enjoyed exploring this topic a lot!!! :)

Budding Chefs
Senior 3 were busy chefs making sausage rolls, scones etc. during the month of November. They are getting very confident in the kitchen.

Back with a Bang
Senior 3 were delighted to have PE and music on their first day back. How lucky were we?!

GAP House
Senior 3 visited Galway Autism Partnerships House on a rainy day  in January. They really enjoyed the visit and loved the sensory room and toys.
Thanks to GAP for facilitating the visit. We will be back again  

Budding Artists
Senior 3 enjoyed using water colours to paint farm animals. They also enjoyed a performance and workshop from Whistleblast, a classical music group. 

Birthday Celebration
Senior 3 enjoyed a belated birthday celebration with plenty of sweets, chocolate and of course cake. 

Spring Walk in Merlin Woods

St. Patrick's Day Activities
​Senior 3 enjoyed playing the bodhrán in music class with Cormac followed by a céilí in the hall with traditional Irish music being played by Annette and friends.

March Bus outings
Senior 3 enjoyed a visit and walk around the bird sanctuary and also a visit to McD's to see the Spring flowers and seeds available.

Senior 3 enjoyed creating their own special Mother's Day pieces, see the process in action below!!

Easter Bunny Visit

Using Local Facilities: Barna Playground
Senior 3 really enjoyed using the equipment in Barna Playground and getting some fresh air on their bus outing!

Exploring Minibeasts in the School Environment
Senior 3 enjoyed a mini beast hunt outside using magnifying glasses to locate the small creatures and ticking off their checklists. 

Visiting People Who Help Us and Offer Advice in the Community

Numeracy- Exploring Capacity
Senior 3 enjoyed learning to measure capacity with measuring jugs.

Birthday Celebrations
Senior 3 celebrated certain VIP's birthday in May, we had cake, sang songs and of course had lot's of treats!!
