Yesterday was a historic day in St joseph's when Eileen Costello-Conneely Chairperson of the Board of Management and Val Gorham director of FVG Construction& Maintenance Ltd signed the contract for the building of the new extension to the school. The builders are currently opening the site and it is all steam ahead for the project which is expected to take eight months to complete. Justin Molloy the Director of the Western Region of the Construction Industry Federation (CIF) came to St. Joseph's Special School to make a special presentation to the pupils during Safety Week. He told the pupils about building sites: The machinery, types of workers and safety around the site. Justin told us it is very unsafe for pupils to play or go into the building site!
St Joseph’s is a special school under the patronage of the voluntary organisation Ability West. Education in all aspects of the primary school curriculum is provided for pupils between the ages 4- 18 who have moderate general learning disabilities. Programmes are designed to meet individual needs so as to enable pupils to reach their full potential.
