Welcome to Junior 5
Fabian, Eoin, Darragh, Teresa & Rebecca welcome you to their class for 2017-2018. We are looking forward to working hard, learning new concepts, exploring and experimenting, and increasing our academic and social skills under the guidance of our teacher Patrick and SNAs Lisa and Ann. We hope you will enjoy all our posts during the year and keep checking back in to see our learning progress.
Preparing for Christmas!
Junior 5 have been very busy this month preparing for the various events during December. We created some lovely artwork in preparation for the Annual Christmas Dinner, which was a great day for us. We also made some cute reindeer and we look forward to bringing them home when we get our Christmas Holidays. A special guest arrived this month too and brought us lovely gifts. Below are some photos captioning our hard work this month & we are all looking forward to a good rest over the holidays.
In Communication & Language, we discussed seasonal change & spoke about the frosty mornings of late. We read the story of 'The Snowman' and watched the movie. We then made our own Snowmen and linked this with an earlier art lesson where we made some posters on 'Clothes for Winter'.
Physical Education & Numeracy meet!
In Numeracy class, we worked on prepositions, focusing on 'in', 'on', 'over' and 'under'. We put these into practice during some P.E. lessons.
We learnt about the celebration of 'Thanksgiving' in the USA and made some lovely turkeys with the help of our shoe prints and handprints. Gobble Gobble!
Hallowe'en Art Attack!
Junior 5 were busy in the lead up to Hallowe'en Mid-Term Break. We performed at assembly with a Hallowe'en song 'Haunted House' and dressed up as a skeleton, a witch, a monster, a zombie and a vampire. It was a scary experience for the audience! We also had great fun creating some lovely Hallowe'en artwork. We hope you enjoy our photos.
Lending a helping hand!
SPHE & Visual Arts came together in October when we discussed our similarities and differences. We all agreed, that in Junior 5, we will help each other and also our parents. We made lovely posters with our handprints and brought them home to show our families.
Winners at the Mountbellew Show!
We were busy creating some lovely artwork to enter in the Mountbellew Agricultural Show , which was held mid-September. We were delighted when we heard from Siobhán, in Junior 4, that we had won prizes! Here are some photos from prize-giving day at school.
Autumn is here and we are ready for a busy term of learning. We were all delighted that the Galway Hurling teams got through to the All-Ireland Finals. In preparation for the big games, we made bunting for our windows and flags that we flew high on Sunday the 4th. Here are some of the photos of our great work.
