Our caterpillars are now in their cocoons and we have placed them in the butterfly garden, we can't wait to see what happens next!

Caterpillar Update

Our caterpillars have grown very big over the last few days, they are very hungry too! But they don't eat ice-creams like in our story this week of 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. We sent our caterpillars off on holidays for the week today; we hope that they will start to make their cocoon homes soon; we can't wait for them to turn into 'big beautiful butterflies'.

The Great Junior 3 Bake Off

We had a great afternoon practicing our culinary skills in the classroom; we made chocolate nests with mini-eggs, sampling our delicacies was the best part!... We weren't so keen on the tidy up though

Our first task was to break up the chocolate so it would melt easy in the microwave... some of us tested out the chocolate to make sure it was up to standard!

Next we had to shred our shredded wheat to make it look like straw from a nest... this was so much fun!

Teresa melted the chocolate in the microwave for us... Thanks Teresa!

Then we mixed the melted chocolate in with our shredded wheat!

Then it was time to scoop our mixture into the cupcake cases, this was a messy task and we had to be so careful not to spill any of our precious goods!

Then it was time to decorate our nests with eggs... not real ones though we prefer the chocolate kind!

Happy Mid-Term Break Everyone! Michelle, Lisa, Teresa, Stella and Jenna are so proud of the work we have done over the last few weeks at home and in school! We had loads of fun seeing our friends on Zoom and it was lovely to come back to school to see our new playground- thanks Sarah and everyone that made it happen! We are having so much fun!

Barefoot books are our all time favourite in Junior 3! We listen to them and read along on the interactive whiteboard. Some of us enjoy listening to the stories through our headphones and reading along with the book too. 

Let's Dance

We love nothing more than to dance in Junior 3. Check out some of our disco moves! We are practicing these dances on our whole school zoom meetings on Wednesday's with our dance teacher Blaithin!

Circle Time Songs

We begin every morning in school with Circle Time. We say 'Hello' to each other and discuss the day, the month, the year and the weather. We love singing and practicing our Lámh signs. 

Playdoh

We all got playdoh from Santa when he visited the school. Here are some fun things we can do with our playdoh!

Musical Instruments

Gather some materials from around the house and have fun making some musical instruments. Pour rice, lentils, pasta into a jar or bottle and shake! Or maybe have a 'Drum Disco' with some pots and pans in the kitchen!

This experiment involved some good clean fun... what a mess! We absolutely loved it. Our consistencies were a little off but like every good scientist it's all about trial and error.

Science Week

An exciting delivery arrived on Monday morning for the boys in Junior 3; we can't wait to see what's inside and have lots of fun with our Science experiments during the week. Little Einsteins in the making!

Halloween 

We had such fun at our Halloween fancy dress! We dressed up as pirates, witches, skeletons and we even had a certain Tony Holohan in the classroom for the day! We had a nice little party at the end of the day to round off our first half-term back to school!

We had great fun being filmed during our Baboro Show. ​

Baboro

 For Culture Night in Galway this year, Phillida Eves and her team from Baboro brought their show "Hear Our Voice" to the school. Junior 3 and some friends from Junior 2 had great fun collecting pine cones, making a campfire, lying on blankets listening to music while shadow puppets cavorted above. It was a magical, multisensory experience for all the boys!

After all our hard work, we love to go outside to the playground for some fresh air and meet our other friends from the Junior school bubble.

Bus Outing

Once a fortnight we get to go on the school bus to see new places. This week we got to go to Dangan sports complex to run around on the pitches and running track. 

Mathematics

We are mathematicians in Junior 3. We absolutely love working with numicon. Numicon helps us to learn our numbers.
